Did you make it? I know those first calls are tough! If you didn’t post in the Facebook group with the win of making your first calls- post one today on where you are stuck so I can help you!
Now that you have an idea of what you are doing with your calls, I want to give you another tool to get more price lists. That is sending emails along with your phone calls.
I like to call first, then send a follow up email, then make two more calls, then another email, followed by another call…. I know what you are thinking- yes, I keep calling until they get me a price list, tell me no, or tell me to go away. I am always polite and respect their time. However, I always assume that they just forgot. I never assume that they don’t want to sell to me, unless they say that explicitly.
You can also email first and follow up with a call, both techniques work. One of the questions I get all of the time is, “Can’t I just email and skip the calls?”
Yes, you can only email. However, you should expect to have to contact 25 times more companies than someone who is calling and emailing. Email only works, but it can be discouraging because it takes a lot more time.
I highly recommend that you do a combination of both.
Now, I am going to give you a template- but I don’t want you to use it. You want to customize this email template to make it unique. Switch up the wording, the order, add what you like about the product, something about your company.
You want this email to short and sweet. Remember, we are just getting price lists. Not convincing anyone of anything at this point.
My name is XXX from XXX. We recently found your product (online, advertised at XX trade show, etc.) and we are very interested in carrying your product. I have attached a copy of our resale license. If you could please send us a copy of your price list, any paperwork needed to open an account, and what you look for as a minimum opening order we would greatly appreciate it.
Please feel free to contact me at XXXX-XXX-XXXX with any questions. Thank you in advance for your time.
Your task today is to create your own customized template, send it to each of your leads that you didn’t talk to today. Then to spend the rest of your 30 minutes farming as many leads as you can so you can make more calls tomorrow.
If you get stuck or want to run any phrasing for your email template by me, simply post in the Facebook group! Okay- get emailing! Talk to you tomorrow!
- Use a branded email: firstname.lastname@example.org instead of email@example.com
- Attach your resale license if you have it handy to improve your legitimacy.
- Grammar Check: Run your email through Grammarly or by a friend to make sure that your email makes sense.
If you joined late and don’t have instructions for farming leads go in to the Facebook group and go back to yesterday’s assignment on making calls. Skip today’s assignment, get your first 3 no’s then join back up with us again tomorrow!
