Posting consistently to social media is one of the highest-leverage things a small business or nonprofit can do, and it is also one of the tasks that slips first when you are busy. This lesson sets up a system where AI writes your captions, you approve them in a batch, and Buffer queues them for automatic publishing. You do the work once a week and your accounts stay active.
Go to buffer.com and create a free account. Click "Connect a Channel" and connect your Instagram business account and your TikTok account. Buffer asks you to log in to each platform and grant posting permission. This takes about five minutes.
If your Instagram is a personal account, you need to switch it to a Creator or Business account in Instagram settings first. This is free and takes 60 seconds.
Before writing captions, collect five pieces of content you already have. These can be photos from your phone, screenshots of customer results, or short clips from events. You do not need to create anything new for this lesson. You are scheduling what you already have.
Drop the five files into a folder on your desktop labeled "Post Queue."
Open a chat with ChatGPT or Claude and use this prompt:
"I run a [type of business or organization]. Write 5 Instagram captions for the following content ideas: [list your 5 content pieces in one or two words each]. Each caption should be under 150 characters, include a clear call to action, and end with 3 to 5 relevant hashtags. Keep the tone [casual / professional / warm]."
You will get five drafts in under 30 seconds. Copy them into a simple text document with one caption per line, numbered to match your files.
Review pass: Read each caption out loud. If it sounds like a robot wrote it, add one specific detail about your business. AI is a first draft, not a final draft.
In Buffer, click "New Post" and select both Instagram and TikTok as targets. Upload your first image or video. Paste the matching caption. Set the schedule to a time when your audience is likely online (Buffer shows your top times if you have a connected account with history; otherwise use 9am, 12pm, or 7pm as starting points).
Repeat for all five pieces of content. Set each post to go out on a different day so you have one post per day for the week.
Click through each scheduled post in the Buffer queue. Confirm the media looks right and the caption reads well. When you are satisfied, click "Approve" or simply leave it in the queue. Buffer will publish automatically at the scheduled times.
Set a recurring 30-minute slot in your calendar for every Monday morning. That is your content batch session for the week.
Your Buffer queue shows at least five posts spread across the next seven days, each with an image or video and an AI-drafted caption. The posts are set to publish automatically. You will not need to touch your phone at posting time.
Template included: Members get the full caption prompt pack for seven content categories (behind-the-scenes, testimonial, product, educational, seasonal, nonprofit story, and event), plus a weekly planning worksheet. Find it in your member dashboard under "Templates."
